Who we are
We are an Open and Affirming, progressive, congregation located in Dallas, TX. At Promise United Church of Christ, we know that inspiration opens hearts. An open heart is an open mind and an open mind is one that can practice tolerance, experience gratitude and feel the glory of God. It is our belief that God is present in all of us. We are dedicated to the service of God and all God's people, and our goal is to provide a place of welcome, inspire an active spirit of mission, and create a safe space to wrestle with questions about our faith. We invite you to become a part of our growing congregation.

Rev. Chantel Nelson is a proud graduate of Brite Divinity School. Although raised in the Methodist tradition, Rev. Nelson was ordained into the United Church of Christ tradition, at Cathedral of Hope in September of 2009.
Rev. Nelson's theology of ministry reflects a theology of presence. Her focuses include: family systems, children and trauma, womanist theology, grief, faith formation, ecotheology, and systematic theology, among others.
Rev. Nelson is an avid reader. She also enjoys quilting, photography, music, art, and spending time outdoors. She is the proud parent of Gabriel, Alijah Grace, and Roman.
