Who we are
Saint Seraphim’s is a parish of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. Our ruling bishop is His Grace, Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America.
The parish was founded in 1950, primarily by Russian émigrés who were teaching at the Army Language School (ALS), now the Defense Language Institute (DLI), in Monterey. The parish moved the church building from its original location to its current place in the park in the early 1970’s.
The services are usually in Slavonic on Sundays, but on weekdays more English is incorporated. There is a small sisterhood attached to the congregation as well as a small Russian school.

Travel/Directions Tips
St. Seraphim’s is located in Seaside, California (just North of Monterey).
The temple is by Laguna Grande Park on Canyon del Rey Blvd., across from its intersection with Francis Ave. and from the DMV. From Highway 1, take the 218 / Del Rey Oaks / Seaside exit and head East (away from the beach). After the 4th stoplight (at Hilby Ave.), turn right into the park. The temple is immediately on the right-hand side.
