Messy Church is a different way of worshipping for children and their families. It takes place monthly on a Saturday afternoon and is organised by the Minister for Children and Young families and her band of volunteer helpers all of whom are DBS cleared. On arrival everyone including the helpers meet in the hall where they make name badges for themselves which are linked to the topic for the day. Following this everyone makes their way into church for the opening session where the topic for the day is introduced. This consists of a bible story and related songs as well as “just for fun” action songs. Then everyone moves back into the hall where a variety of craft tables relating to the theme, have been set up by the volunteer helpers.

Here the adults and children move around creating a variety of interesting art and craft works which are later displayed in church – obviously with some also going home for them to show the rest of their families and friends! When this is completed it’s back into church for an inter-active session where the teaching is consolidated and they have another good sing, before returning to the hall, where helpers have been busy preparing a party tea for everyone to share. Themes that have been covered include:- Noah, Joseph, Daniel, the prodigal son, Jesus feeding the five thousand, the wise and foolish men, fishing for Jesus, the Easter story, love, celebrations and a performance of a nativity play.

Messy Church is temporarily suspended due to Covid-19 regulations.

Buggy Club

The buggy club is run each Thursday morning during term-time by a group of ladies from the church. It caters for children from 3 months to school age accompanied by their parents / guardians. It provides a wide range of play equipment and educational toys and also has an astro-turfed outside play area for their use. The children learn to play and share, developing their social skills through interaction with each other and the adults who help. They all enjoy their morning toast and drinks. Christian festivals such as Easter and Christmas are celebrated and they usually have a summer outing. The buggy club is currently suspended due to Covid – 19 restrictions.
