Who we are

Dear Friends in Christ,

Welcome to the Parish of St. Katharine Drexel in Amador County! We are one faith community spread throughout the beauty of California's Gold Country.

Wherever you come from or however long it has been since you have visited a Catholic Church, you are welcome here. Please join us on Sunday for Holy Mass, or at Saturday evening's Vigil, or feel free to drop by the Parish Office and meet our staff and myself.

Our mission for more than 150 years in Amador County remains the same: To proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to all nations, celebrate and be strengthened by the power of the sacraments given to us, and serve and love our neighbors. We welcome you to journey with us!

You may see that we have many church sites but we are all one body in Christ. Together we invite you to join us as we continue to discover how the Lord desires to make use of us for His Glory and for our salvation.

May God bless you!

Fr. Colin

St. Katharine Drexel Parish History

On November 30, 2011, the Amador Catholic Community, formerly comprised of three distinct parishes, was unified into one. Most Reverend Jaime Soto, Bishop of Sacramento, proclaimed our new patron saint and named our new parish St. Katharine Drexel Parish. At this historic ceremony, Bishop Soto also installed Rev. Lawrence J. Beck ("Father Larry") as Pastor of St. Katharine Drexel Parish.

Six Catholic churches in Amador County made up the former parishes: Immaculate Conception Parish (Immaculate Conception and St. Mary of the Mountains Churches), Sacred Heart Parish (Sacred Heart Church), and St. Patrick Parish (St. Patrick, St. Bernard, and Our Lady of the Pines Churches). All six churches continue to function in different capacities. In addition, St. Katharine Drexel Parish Center houses our offices, meeting spaces, as well as the the main church building.
