St. Peter The Apostle - St. James & Gowan Gilmor History
Four northern Ontario churches in the diocese of Algoma – three Anglican and one Lutheran – have decided to share one priest, Rev. Henk Willems. He will serve Zion Lutheran and St. James Anglican in Massey, Gowan Gilmor Memorial Chapel in Sagamok First Nation and St. Peter the Apostle Anglican in Elliot Lake. Mr. Willems and his wife, Sue, relocated from Thunder Bay, Ont., and he was installed Nov. 20 at a ceremony led by Rev. Gunter Dahle, assistant to the area’s Lutheran bishop. Anglican archdeacon Harry Huskins also took part. The national Canadian Anglican and Evangelical Lutheran churches in 2001 agreed to pursue a closer relationship.
