Who we are
St. Raphael Parish Los Angeles was established in 1925. Father William Mullane was appointed the first pastor of St. Raphael’s by Bishop John Cantwell. In the first year of the history of the parish, Father Mullane built the church of Tudor / Gothic style, which stands today. The Swedish Hall (Mayflower Auditorium) was used for dinners, dances and all other social activities of the parish.
The Carmelite Fathers arrived in 1936. On June 29, 1946, plans for the construction of the current primary school, cafeteria and auditorium were made. The whole plant was constructed of reinforced concrete and was totally fireproof. At that time, support of capable and competent aid of the Adrian Dominican Nuns was also secured. In 1949 the Convent was finally built to accommodate the Adrian Dominican Nuns. After many years of use, the Convent was torn down and replaced by the Mount Carmel Center, which was made possible by a generous grant from John and Dorothy Shea Foundation. The Center was opened in 2005. After 84 years of service to this community the Carmelite Fathers left St. Raphael on June 30, 2018 under the care of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
On August 2018 the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity took the pastoral care of this community. Fr. Stan Bosch, S.T. became the new Pastor of St. Raphael parish.
La Parroquia de San Rafael fue establecida en 1925. Reverendo William Mullane fue nombrado el primer párroco de San Rafael por el Obispo John Cantwell. En el primer año de la historia de la parroquia, el padre Nillane construyó la iglesia de Tudor / estilo gótico, que se encuentra hoy en día. El Salón de Sueca (Auditorio de Mayflower) se utiliza para cenas, bailes y todas las demás actividades sociales dentro de la parroquia.

El Centro del Monte Carmelo, el cual fue posible gracias a una generosa beca de John y Dorothy Shea Fundación, fue inaugurado en 2005. Depues de 84 años de estar en esta comunidad los Padres Carmelitas dejaron la parroquia el 30 de junio de 2018 bajo el cuidado de la Arquidiocesis de Los Angeles.
En agosto de 2018, los Siervos Misioneros de la Santísima Trinidad tomaron el cuidado pastoral de esta comunidad. Padre Stan Bosch, S.T. se convirtió en el nuevo pastor de la parroquia de San Rafael.

Father Stan Bosch, S.T., Psy. D. is a member of The Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, a religious community working with the poor and abandoned, and has worked with Los Angeles’s gang involved youth and adults for more than 30 years. Previously he served several years in Mexico and 11 years as pastor of Our Lady of Victory and Sacred Heart Churches in Compton. In these past years, Fr. Stan’s work with inner city youth was featured in the National Geographic documentary “Inside LA Gang Wars”, as well as in the Los Angeles Times August 2009: “Lets Talk About It!”; and The LA Archdiocesan Tidings: “Creating Communities of Care!”
Fr. Stan holds a doctoral degree in psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from the California Graduate Institute of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He is a psychotherapist, Director of Mental Health/Personnel Development for gang intervention and staff workers with Soledad Enrichment Action (SEA) and the City of Los Angeles’ Gang Reduction and Youth Development Project (GRYD). He also maintains a therapeutic practice in psychotherapy in South Los Angeles specializing in psychodynamic group and individual psychotherapy treating early trauma/abuse, depression, addictions and gang related issues. He is bi-lingual in English and Spanish. Recently he has been named as Pastor of St. Raphael’s Church in South LA.
