The Parish of St Paul History
The present church is built on the site of the former St Paul’s Anglican Church. The Anglican Parish was established in Paeroa in 1893.
From 1883, Anglican services were held in the Methodist church. In 1895, the first church was built by Moore and McKenzie.
The interior and bell tower were added later. The first resident vicar was Rev. W.H. Wilson, who came from Te Awamutu in 1896 and was succeeded in 1901 by Rev. J.P. Cowie. During this time, the Parish hall was completed. The Vicarage was located on Rotokohu Road until 1916 when the Rev. F.B. Dobson bought a homestead on the boundary of the churchyard from W.J. Forest. The present church building was built in the 1950s.
