UKI saat ini, berdomisili di Gereja St. Anselm Church dan dengan resmi ada di bawah Keuskupan Agung Toronto. UKI adalah Gereja di dalam Keuskupan Agung Toronto. Selain itu, UKI juga merupakan suatu komunitas bagi semua orang Indonesia yang mempunyai jiwa dan semangat kesatuan, kegotong-royongan serta kekeluargaan di dalam iman keKatolikannya dan tetap rindu untuk mengungkapkan imannya serta menimba iman dalam bahasa, budaya, dan cara Indonesia.
UKI is currently domiciled at the Church of St. Anselm Church and officially under the Archdiocese of Toronto. UKI is a church within the Archdiocese of Toronto. Apart from that, UKI is also a community for all Indonesians who have a spirit and spirit of unity, mutual cooperation and kinship in their Catholic faith and long to express their faith and draw faith in the Indonesian language, culture and way.

Pada mulanya dengan keinginan untuk berkumpul, saling mengenal dan kerinduan untuk merayakan Sakramen Maha Kudus dalam Bahasa Indonesia, pada tanggal 3 Februari 1980 diadakan Misa Kudus pertama kali oleh Pastor Wayne Jenkins, SCJ, di Gereja St. Joan of Arc. Pastor Wayne adalah seorang pastor SCJ yang bertugas di paroki St. Joan of Arc pada waktu itu. Selama 19 tahun, Gereja St. Joan of Arc telah diperkenankan menjadi "second home" bagi Umat Katolik Indonesia yang bermukim di Toronto dan Sekitarnya.
Atas prakarsa dari beberapa tokoh perintis, maka dibentuklah wadah baru yang diberi nama UMAT KATOLIK INDONESIA, disingkat U.K.I. Dan sejak Pebruari 1980 itu, "biji" yang sudah ditanam ini bertunas dan tumbuh berkembang dengan bantuan dan bimbingan pastor-pastor SCJ baik dari Indonesia maupun Canada.
At first with the desire to gather, to know each other and to celebrate the Blessed Sacrament in Indonesian, on February 3, 1980, the first Holy Mass was held by Pastor Wayne Jenkins, SCJ, at the Church of St. Joan of Arc. Pastor Wayne is an SCJ pastor serving in the parish of St. Joan of Arc at that time. For 19 years, the Church of St. Joan of Arc has been allowed to become a "second home" for Indonesian Catholics living in Toronto and its surrounding areas.
On the initiative of several pioneering figures, a new forum was formed which was named UMAT KATOLIK INDONESIA, abbreviated as U.K.I. And since February 1980, these "seeds" that have been planted have sprouted and grown with the help and guidance of SCJ priests from both Indonesia and Canada.
