Who we are
The 'church' never was the 'building'. The true church is the body of Christ - the gathering of all those who have faith in what Jesus did, who do their best to apply the principles found in the Bible, and who choose to meet together regularly. It's simply not possible to love God, honour Him and do His will without the working of His Holy Spirit within us. The Bible calls this being 'born again', and being 'born from above', or 'born of God'.
There is a mystery as to whether we choose to follow Him first, or He chooses us to come into His kingdom first. In truth it's a process of understanding the gospel - the 'good news' - accepting the truth of it - by faith - and asking God to come into our lives. To understand the gospel we first have to hear it!
We believe that God has commissioned us to take the good news, our practical love, and our very selves out of the building into the streets to tell those who haven't encountered Jesus before about Him.

Union Road Community Church History
The Union Street Community Church has it's roots in the (Oswaldtwistle) Christian Institute, originally sited on the plot behind the current building, on John Street. As far as I can establish this was between 1911 and 1984.
The group then moved to Melbourne Street, and later 60 Roe Greave Road up to October 2009.
When the building on Melbourne Street was sold to raise funds for a new building, the group met in the Harvey Street Youth and Community Centre.
Finally, the building project on Union Street was started in April 2008.
