Central Edmonton Alliance Church History
Central Edmonton Alliance Church (CEAC) is a vibrant congregation whose identity is rooted in worship, prayer, and missions. It started as a Bible study between five Filipino university students in the summer of 1983 which blossomed into a weekly gathering of multiple Filipino Christians from Edmonton. In 1989, they officially organised as a “self-supporting, self-propagating, and self- governing” local congregation affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) in Canada and was renamed the First Filipino Alliance Church (FFAC). FFAC was the first Filipino evangelical church in Edmonton and the first of what are now almost thirty Filipino churches under the C&MA in Canada.
In the fall of 2017, FFAC changed its name to Central Edmonton Alliance Church in order to be more aligned with the vision of reaching all peoples for God’s kingdom. There is a renewed commitment to minister to central Edmonton as the city begins an effort to revitalize downtown Edmonton, thus drawing more people to that area. In recent years, CEAC has partnered with Hope Mission, the Mustard Seed, and other churches in the area to meet the needs of the community.
From its inception, CEAC has placed a priority on recruiting, equipping, and commissioning its people to become intentional kingdom builders. As FFAC, CEAC played a significant role in the founding of the Council of Filipino Alliance Ministries (CFAM) in 1991 that would serve to reach Filipinos through planting and developing Great Commission churches. It was renamed the Conference of Filipino Alliance Ministries in 1998. Over time, CEAC has sent out six of its leaders to pastor the growing number of CFAM congregations.
Additionally, CEAC is actively participating in local evangelism and global missions, as it extends its ministry through the Filipino International Network (a catalytic movement of Christians committed to motivate and mobilize Filipinos globally to partner for worldwide missions). Currently, six CEAC members are deployed as career missionaries with the C&MA.
In addition to those commissioned by CEAC as full-time C&MA workers, CEAC also partners with other churches, missionaries, and organizations worldwide for the advancement of the great commission. Extended Night of Prayer (now Night of Worship and Prayer), serves as the longest standing tradition outside of Sunday worship for CEAC and is used as a monthly vehicle to encourage, educate, and equip people in missions involvement through prayer. This emphasis on global missions through personal response and action has enabled CEAC to send many of its people to Europe, South America, Asia, and the Middle East on short-term missions. Biennially, CEAC sends several dozen people to a different area of the Philippines to participate in a Medical/Dental Evangelistic Mission.

Teach us to serve Thee
Teach us, good Lord, to serve Thee more faithfully; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labour and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do Thy will, O Lord our God.
