Who we are
We are a Christ-centred faith community of all ages and many nationalities. We are excited about helping everyone to discover the redeeming love of God and to grow in faith, hope and love as we serve Cockfosters and the world around us for the wider good. Part of the Church of England, we warmly invite you to visit us on a Sunday and join us on this journey of hope, joy and purpose.
We believe that God our Creator sent His Son Jesus Christ 2000 years ago so that we could become His children, follow Him today, and be confident of eternal life. Jesus lived, died, and rose again in order to forgive our sins, redeem the world, transform our lives, and give us and all creation a hope to live for.
We want to express God’s love for the world in the way that we live and relate to others, and we find the Bible a reliable guide in discovering God and His will for our lives. Faith for us means a transforming and trusting relationship with God through Jesus Christ in the power of God’s Spirit.
Our church life is focused around three values:
reaching the lost – helping others to find the love of God for themselves through sharing the good news and acts of compassion gathering a community of grace – a “come as you are” culture which is ready to change anything except the gospel in order to help as many as possible to find the love of God here growing more like Christ – asking God to help us grow in faith, hope and love for Him and for others
These values find expression in our Vision Statement inspired by the first Christians in Acts 2:42 – They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Our vision for 2015 is 2 Peter 5:1-7.
We are part of the Church of England and follow the evangelical stream within that tradition, with a focus on evangelism, Scripture, the death of Christ for us, and a call to personal devotion. We are a member of the Evangelical Alliance and subscribe to their Basis of Faith.

With us night and morning
By gracious powers so wonderfully sheltered, and confidently waiting come what may, we know that God is with us night and morning, and never fails to greet us each new day. Yet is this heart by its old foe tormented, still evil days bring burdens hard to bear; Oh, give our frightened souls the sure salvation for which, O Lord, You taught us to prepare. And when this cup You give is filled to brimming with bitter suffering, hard to understand, we take it thankfully and without trembling, out of so good and so beloved a hand. Yet when again in this same world You give us the joy we had, the brightness of Your Sun, we shall remember all the days we lived through, and our whole life shall then be Yours alone.
