Who we are
The Wembley Downs Church of Christ is a journeying community who, in genuine faith and love, seek to reflect and express the mystery of the grace of God in Jesus Christ.
• We are a Story Making community - listening to Christ's story and each other's story to create an ongoing story of dynamic engagement with the Spirit of Christ and the Church's mission.
• We are a Pain-Sharing community - unafraid to sit with suffering without minimising or deflecting from it, rather entering it and working through to its resolution and completion.
• We are a Nay-Saying community - speaking truth into confusion and denial. While we are participants in our surrounding culture we serve that culture best by challenging its precepts with the wise and pervasive perspectives of God's loving and gracious purpose.
• We are a Prayer-Directing community - learning and imparting the intimate language, relations and silence of prayer for one another and the world around us through regular worship, small groups and friendship.
• We are a Community-Building community - seeking to create a place of hospitality where all can grow and flourish in wisdom, love and understanding of the fullness of the Good News of Christ whose body, together with the world-wide Church, we comprise.
