Hello!
Let me start off by stating that I love the church of Jesus Christ. I take the responsibility of caring for God’s people seriously and I carry out my calling with joy and eagerness (1 Peter 5:2ff). My greatest delight and ambition in ministry is to see people know Jesus and grow into Christlikeness as they are shaped by truth (Gal 4:19).
Here's a summary of how I came to Christ in salvation and was later called to CBC:
Early in life at the age of six I repented of my sin and submitted to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. At that time my conscience was weighed down by the burden of my guilt, and I trusted in the finished work of Christ alone for my standing before God. This young seedling of faith grew steadily throughout my teen years and I eagerly pursued Christ daily.
At the same time, I understood very little about biblical sanctification and as temptation came in full force I struggled to battle sin using God's resources. Instead I relied upon my own abilities to subdue sin, ultimately lowering God's standards to make them attainable in the flesh.
At the age of 20 while I was leading a college Bible study I began to understand the sovereign grace of God in salvation as I devoured the Scriptures. Simultaneously I encountered expository preaching, the doctrines of grace and biblical sanctification. It’s hard to describe the joy I experienced as I began to understand the Christian life in new and wonderful ways.
Ten years later I began seminary training at The Expositors Seminary, where I graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree in 2015. During my final year of seminary, God knit our hearts together with the original families who started CBC and they called me to be their pastor.
I share my background because it provides a context for understanding my burden for the church today. Although I had been in Christ for many years, I wasn’t growing properly. My understanding of truth was underdeveloped. And I meet many Christians who have the same experience.
But when I joined a church that really believed in the sufficiency of Scripture I began to grow and change. My views changed on God’s sovereignty in salvation, my view of sin and sanctification, and my view of God himself.
By God’s grace our church will consistently uphold the sovereignty of God and the sufficiency of his truth as we seek to live in humble submission to Christ. (1 Tim 3:15). If there is a way I can serve you in the Lord, it would be my joy.
In his grip, by his grace,
Jake

Cornerstone Bible Church History
In late 2014, a group of 7 families were meeting together to seek the Lord’s face and see if He would bless their desire to plant a church in the Albany, Oregon area. From the beginning there was a shared burden to see a church committed to expositional preaching, the sufficiency of Scripture in counseling and discipleship, and a commitment to the centrality of the Lord Jesus Christ in all things. In June of 2015, Cornerstone Bible Church was officially born.
Fast forward a just a few years and God has generously provided us with our own building! This has been an incredible help for carrying out our day to day ministry. At this time we are still in the process of establishing elders and building a solid foundation for long-term ministry.
Our church is filled with singles and families at various stages of life from Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Jefferson, Eugene and Millersburg, Oregon. We also have students from several nearby campuses including Oregon State University, the Western University of Health Sciences Medical School and Linn-Benton Community College.

I ask for...
I ask you neither for health nor for sickness, for life nor for death; but that you may dispose of my health and my sickness, my life and my death, for your glory... You alone know what is expedient for me; you are the sovereign master, do with me according to your will. Give to me, or take away from me, only conform my will to yours. I know but one thing, Lord, that it is good to follow you, and bad to offend you. Apart from that, I know not what is good or bad in anything. I know not which is most profitable to me, health or sickness, wealth or poverty, nor anything else in the world. That discernment is beyond the power of men or angels, and is hidden among the secrets of your providence, which I adore, but do not seek to fathom.
