Who we are
Covenant Presbyterian Church was formed with the merger of two historic Presbyterian congregations in June of 2009. The Rev. Dr. Quincy Cooper, who was serving as Interim Pastor at Redford PC, was appointed stated supply pastor for the newly formed congregation. In June of 2013, the Rev. Tom James was installed as pastor of Covenant Church.

Leader Bio:
Pastor Tom James was called to Covenant Church in 2013. He is married to the Rev. Michelle James, and they live in Grosse Ile with three wonderful daughters (and two worrisome dogs). Tom is a Floridian by birth who loves Michigan winters (from inside his house). He also enjoys reading, writing, walking, watching Pistons basketball, and imagining various home improvements that may or may not ever be finished. Previously, Tom served churches in Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio and Richmond, Virginia. From 2008-2012 he taught theology at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, where he received his Ph.D. in 2004. He is the author or co-author of two books, and occasionally travels around to give conference papers or talks. Since 2013, he has served on the Multicultural Ministry Team of the Presbytery of Detroit. Â
