Pastor Tom and Julie came to First Free of Boone, in July 2014.
Tom and Julie were married in 1986. They have three children: Sarah and Laura who live, study, and work in Minneapolis, and their son, Andy, who is a freshman at University of Iowa.
Tom got his masters in biblical studies at Columbia International University, graduating in 1988. Tom and Julie served with the Torchbearers in Sweden, from 1988-1990.
Following this mission opportunity, Tom has pastored evangelical free churches in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota, from 1990-2009.
In 2009, the Mason family moved to Vienna, Austria, to teach at the Vienna Christian School and pastor Grace Church Vienna, until summer 2014.
The Masons are delighted to be in Boone with the mission to help make disciples in the heartland! Â

We understand that sometimes people want to know what to wear so they feel comfortable. We have those that dress both semi-formally and casually. You will fit in whether you dress up or simply wear jeans and a T-shirt.
We care more about you than what you wear. Â

Every person matter at First Free, so we place a high value on helping families fulfill their responsibility to raise their children well. With a variety of opportunities to help kids come to know Jesus and grow in their faith, we have been known as a great place for kids and their parents to learn, grow, and worship Jesus together.
Sunday Mornings
Sunday School for All Ages runs from 10:50-11:50am following our morning worship service. We have excellent teacher who want to model faithfulness and teach kids about God's Word in a safe and inviting setting.
Specific ages for classes are for pre-K to 1st grade, 2nd to 5th grade, and 6-12th grade.
Wednesday Nights
Amplify is our Wednesday night ministry to children and families of children from 3-yr-old through 6th grade
We meet from 6:00-7:15pm
Kickoff for this ministry will be October 18th
Vacation Bible School
Each summer, we set aside a week to help kids learn about Jesus in a fun and exciting way. We have partnered with Grace Community Church to do a week of food, active learning, memorable songs, and amazing crafts. Â

The reason our name is "First" is because we are the very first Evangelical Free Church here in America! Our roots go back to the revivals in Sweden and Norway, in the 1800's.
Our Swedish forefathers came here to America to be free from the State Church and to express their freedom to worship and teach, and to extend the gospel under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and not human government
