Who we are
First Presbyterian Church is about people!!
As we journey into the future toward which God calls us,We pray that we are inspired into action,That our vision for faith will grow,And that our depth of understanding of God,And God's pruposes in our lives will lead us forward!
Our Mission
The mission of First Presbyterian Church is to worship and glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by:
Growing in Faith - We are a community of believers exploring the ways of faith together.
Proclaiming God's Grace - We believe that all people are touched by God's grace in Jesus Christ.
Empowering the Body of Christ - We are called to use the gift of faith as we seek to be the "hands of Christ"

First Presbyterian Church History
Our History
The Reverends Robert Nail and Andrew Pickens Smith of the Board of Home Missions, Southern Presbyterian Church, presided at the organization of the church on March 11, 1894.
Beginning worship services were held at the Baptist Church until 1896 when a one room chapel was completed. This structure is still part of the present facility. In 1928 the congregation ws transferred to El Paso Presbytery of the Northern Branch of the Presbyterian Church.
The present structure was built in 1957 with the addition of the Christian Education Unit. We are currently doing a revitalization of our property with some interior remodeling and landscaping.
First Presbyterian Church has 181 members, including people of all age groups. It is a church that has always been active in mission projects in service to the needs of the people in Carlsbad and around the world.

Forgive us
O God, forgive the poverty and the pettiness of our prayers . Listen not to our words but to the yearnings of our hearts. Hear beneath our petitions the crying of our need.
