Grimsby Baptist Church History
Baptist witness and worship in Grimsby began in 1822 with the first chapel and schoolroom being built and opened in 1824.
By 1826 a small group covenanting together became the first Baptist Church and called their first minister in that same year.
Numerical growth over the next 50 years led eventually to the building of the Baptist Tabernacle in 1876-1877 and this building remained in use until the 1950’s when the decision to relocate was made.
Changes in society, redistribution of the town’s population and the economics of the upkeep of the aging Tabernacle prompted this decision and the site was chosen with a view to the growth of the Nunsthorpe and Grange Estate.
Since that time we thank God for continued growth. Now we are a vibrant body of God’s people, enjoying His love and expressing that in worship and many acts of service.

Give me a steadfast heart
Give me, O Lord, a steadfast heart which no unworthy thought can drag downwards; an unconquered heart which no tribulation can wear out; an upright heart which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside. Bestow upon me also, O Lord my God, understanding to know you, diligence to seek you, wisdom to find you, and a faithfulness that may finally embrace you; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
