Higher Ground Temple C.O.G.I.C. History
Before we can get to the history of HIgher Ground Temple, we must know the history of our Pastor and Founder. Bishop Em Barron is the Sr. Pastor and the Founder of Higher Ground Temple COGIC. His ministry expands for almost 20 years. From when he preached his first sermon when he was 8 years old to 2002 when he started passing our sandwiches and an uplifting word on the streets: to now where he pastors an active congregation of almost 350 people.
He is no stranger to elevation in Christ as well. "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you"-James 4:10. Bishop Barron was ordained an elder in 1982 while attending Benedict College. Since then he has been elevated to the office of Pastor at HGT COGIC and a superintendent in the COGIC. Recently he has been elevated to the Bishopric and consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop by BIshop J. Darrell Robinson and Rwubach Ministries. Since being the pastor of Higher Ground Temple the church has grown tremendously and the city of Camden has gotten a closer taste of holiness. Throughout his ministry, Bishop Barron has done thousand of funerals and has baptized over 4,000 people which goes to show his dedication to his ministry.
By his side to celebrate these great accomplishments is his wife and the first lady of HGT, Missionary Sharon Barron. Bishop and Lady Barron together have accomplished many wonderful things for HGT and North Camden. From outreach and a quick word, their ministry has become a household name. Under the leadership of Bishop, Barron HGT has successfully grown over 15 ministries/auxiliaries. Some including men's ministry, women's ministry, and the explosive youth ministry. Comforting souls is just not a Sunday task for Bishop. He is also the Chaplin for the Camden metro police department.
Throughout the week you can find Bishop on "The Bishops Prayer Call" or on "Be Grateful Moment". On Sundays at 8 am Bishop preaches to the 8'oclock church a quick but powerful message. At 10:30 am on Sunday Bishops preaches at the morning glory service. This is HGT's powerful, praise-impregnated service. Bishop and Lady Barron invite you to join us at any one of our services or broadcast at any time!
