Who we are
Nazareth Lutheran Church is the heart of the village of Standard. The village was first settled by Danish settlers and the village originally had the name "Danaview" until it was discovered another small town on the railline had the same name. The town then changed the name to Standard, which is the name of the Danish flag. The Danes who settled Standard loved God and built a beautiful church with a tall soaring steeple housing a wonderful bell nearly 100 years ago. The congregation itself celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011. While we are Lutheran in name and theology and are proud of our Danish Lutheran heritage, Nazareth is very much a "community church" where we strive to make all welcome, regardless of religious affiliation or heritage. We strive to be hospitable and welcome to all that pass through our doors beneath our beautiful stained glass window with its prairie scene.
