Our Redeemer Free Methodist Church History
Our Redeemer was founded in 1866 as one of the early Free Methodist congregations. Free Methodists spoke against slavery, promoted freedom in worship, and taught freedom from measuring your life by what you own. The church held services originally on Villa Street in downtown Elgin. Room to grow was limited so in 1974 land was purchased along route 58 and a new building built in 1978. Pastor Jeff Suits was the senior pastor from 1990-2010.
Pastor Randy Stateler was recently appointed as the new Senior Pastor for Our Redeemer, and started August 1, 2010.
