Who we are
Welcome to St. Elias
At St. Elias, in obedience to the Church, we do our best to be faithful to our Orthodox Tradition, both in Liturgics and in faith. The Articles of Union between our Churches and the Church of Rome are quite explicit: that the divine worship and all prayers and services of Orthros, Vespers, and the night services shall remain intact (without any change at all) for us according to the ancient custom of the Eastern Church... (Brest-Litovsk, art. 2)
Everyone is welcome — especially children! St. Elias is very family friendly. Are you planning a special trip or visiting from a distance? Contact us (905-459-8888), so we can introduce ourselves to you and let you know if there are any special events during your visit. If you are new to the parish, please click here for some FAQ's. Our service schedule rarely changes, but just in case (especially as we move back into our rebuilt church), it is always a good idea to check before you travel a long distance. Plan to stay after services for fellowship, and for answers to any questions you may have.

Leader Bio:
Our Pastor is Fr. Roman and his wonderful wife Irene is the 'Panyi Matka' of our parish.
Within the Byzantine Tradition of the Church, we have conserved the tradition of married priests. This sacred tradition stretches back to biblical commandments (Titus 1:6, etc.).
Father Roman and Irene are the parents of six children, grandparents of 10, and are retired from full-time teaching and chaplaincy in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board.

Dress Code
First consider what is appropriate and respectful. To use current dress code vernacular: for men, business or business casual. For Women: business or business casual as well. You will feel most comfortable with shoulders covered, in dresses skirts or pants that are appropriate for a church environment. Most regulars dress up a little for Sunday services. To quote someone: 'to dress appropriately is the sincerest form of politeness'. What is important is that you are with us- and then you can check out what others do.
Other information
The way, the truth, and the life
Lord Jesus, thou who art the way, the truth, and the life; hear us as we pray for the truth that shall make all free. Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be lived. Liberty is too precious a thing to be buried in books. It costs too much to be hoarded. Help us see that our liberty is not the right to do as we please, but the opportunity to please to do what is right.
