St Brigid’s Church History
St. Brigid's Church is a Roman Catholic Church located in Mountbolus in County Offaly. It was built in 1837 and replaced an older thatched Church dating from the mid 18th Century. Seating was added between 1863 and 1867 in which the roof and windows were repaired. A new floor was set down and new windows were erected by Fr. O'Reilly between 1916 and 1921.
A new roof was put on this church in 1967. It was rededicated by Most Rev. Michael Smith on 29 April 1984 after the church underwent renovations.
In August 1997 a new organ was purchased for the church.
It is one of two churches in Kilcormac-Killoughey Parish in the Diocese of Meath.
