Who we are
St. John’s church is located in Chester Basin. It is the more modern looking church in the parish. The current St. John’s church was built when the original building of 1884 needed to be replaced after serving the community of Chester Basin faithfully for 86 years. Funds to build the new church were raised by having the well known “Herring Chokers Picnics” from August 1962 until 1971. The first service in the new St. John’s building was held on June 18, 1972.

Our worship is contemporary Anglican worship mostly from the Book of Alternative services, sometimes we use other liturgical resources from around the Anglican Communion and occasionally from the Book of Common Prayer. The music ranges from traditional to contemporary led by an organist/pianist or multi instrument worship band. Our services are participatory. When we worship we enter into the joy of the Lord with praise and thanksgiving in our hearts
Come celebrate Christ’s love with us.
