Who we are

St John’s is a 'Church of England’ church and is part of the Horsham Team Ministry, which consists of five Anglican churches that together serve most of Horsham.

We currently have a vacancy for a Team Vicar which we hope will be filled in the early part of 2012.

Our vision is to be a church that embraces the five key purposes of the church described in Acts Chapter 2:

• Worship: encountering God's presence. • Discipleship: growing in Christian faith. • Fellowship: deepening our friendships with each other. • Serving: working together as a team. • Evangelism: reaching out to others with the love of Christ.

Our services are at 9am and 10.30am. The 9am service is always Communion. The 10.30am service is a more informal service with a full range of children’s activities. On 1st Sunday evenings there is an informal evening service, Encounter, led by the Band, at 8pm.

Children and Young People at St John’s: At our 10.30 services on 2nd and 3rd Sundays, after a short time of all-age worship, children go to their own groups to have fun and learn together. They then rejoin the adults for Communion or a further time of all-age worship near the end of the service. On 4th Sundays they have their own service ‘Ignite’ in the Hall and join us once that has finished.

There are groups for children of all ages:

Sparklers - 0 - 2 year olds Flames – Age 3 – School Year R Beacons - Years 1-3 Lasers - Years 4-6 Enlight (NLt) - Years 7-9 Pyro – Year 10+

A Parish wide cell group for Year 10+ meets on alternate Wednesdays. A Year 8-9 Parish wide cell group meets on the same alternate Wednesdays.

On each second Sunday at 7pm Enter is a service aimed at young people held at St. Mark's Church, North Heath Lane. Year 7+

Midweek at St John’s Home Groups:These weekly groups provide an opportunity to meet informally on a regular basis for friendship, discussion, Bible study and prayer.

Craft Mornings: 3rd Mondays of the month. 9.30am-12.30pm

Early Bird Café: 8.45-9.45am on term-time Tuesdays. Free fair-trade coffee, tea & pastries. Open to everyone – all ages.

Tuesday at Ten: This is a group for women who meet in the church and hall on Tuesday mornings from 10am for coffee, friendship, support & fun. During the morning there is a crèche for young children and a Bible study, talk or other activity lasting about an hour for the adults.

Midweek Communion: On Wednesday Mornings at 11.30am there is a short service of Holy Communion held in the Church Hall followed by refreshments.

Craft Mornings: 9.30-12.30 in the Hall. Come along at any time – bring along something crafty or just come and chat. Cost only £2.00 including refreshments. 1st Wednesdays of the month

Tea and Fellowship: A monthly group with a varied programme for older people on second Wednesdays, 2.30pm in the Church Hall. Contact Chris Billington on 265536.

Monthly Lunches: All welcome to join us on third Wednesdays for a cooked lunch.

Men's Breakfasts: A chance to meet with other men from the church for fellowship, teaching and prayer. Saturdays once a term.
