Who we are
St. John's Lutheran Church is a family of believers in Dodge County, Wisconsin. As part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), we believe...
"We believe in Jesus Christ; He is the true God from all eternity ---- almighty, all-knowing, present in all places. He is a man from Nazareth ---weak in the flesh, fearful of future sorrow, tortured by pain. He was tempted like us, yet like we will never know; But he triumphed over temptation; he refrained from his full might and glory; he submitted humbly to the Father's will; he chose death, to give us life. We believe that our sins anger God, each one of them: big and small, public and private, those that hurt others, those that don't appear to hurt anyone, those we don't even remember.
We believe that Jesus lived and died for the sins of the world. He resisted every temptation; he reached out in love, to anyone in need; he remained pure in every thought, not just to be a good person, not just to be a good example, but to be mankind's perfect Savior and Substitute, to live the Law in our place, so that the Law will not condemn us. He submitted to shame; he suffered unjust punishment; he sacrificed Himself, not to prove a point, not just to show us how to obey, but to take mankind's sentence for sin, as our perfect Savior and Substitute. He is our sure hope and salvation. This is what the Bible says; therefore this is what we believe."
We keep these beliefs at the core of everything we do: in our preschool and Christian school, in our ministries and everyday lives. We are led in worship and study by Pastor Paul Schupmann, and run thanks to the efforts of our dedicated teachers and staff, and through thousands of volunteer hours by our generous members. If you are interested in learning more about our church, please feel free to come visit us or contact us to learn more about joining our church family.

Leader Bio:
Pastor David Brandt has been our pastor at St. John’s since the summer of 2017. He is originally from St. Louis, MO. When he was 9 he moved to Arizona and later his family moved to Utah where he enjoyed exploring God’s beautiful creation in the scenery that those states offer.
After graduating from Arizona Lutheran Academy, he went to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. In addition to receiving an education, it was there that he also met his wife, Heide. After marriage, they lived in Heide's home town of Saginaw, MI for a couple of years.
After college David attended Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI, which included a vicar year (internship) at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Aurora, IL.
After graduation from the seminary, David was privileged to serve for 9 years as a pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tomah, WI.
David and Heide have been blessed with 6 children: Max, Hailey, Ella, Lillie, Abel and Pearl. David and Heide enjoy traveling together, playing games together, and watching their children develop and grow, especially in the grace and knowledge of their Savior.
Pastor Brandt’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” He would love the opportunity to tell you why or to give you any other direction or comfort from God’s Word that he can.

Teach us to serve Thee
Teach us, good Lord, to serve Thee more faithfully; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labour and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do Thy will, O Lord our God.
