Ringing Practice
Visitors of all abilities are always welcome. We ring rounds and call changes, plain hunt and plain bob doubles although we will try anything with enough support. Mawnan bells are the smallest ring of six in Cornwall the tenor being just over 3 cwt. The tower was built in the fourteenth century, no doubt on the site of an earlier structure. In it were hung three bells, which, it is said, were originally dated 1675 and 1760. They were re-cast in the last century. In May 2002, an appeal was launched to replace these existing 3 bells, build a new floor above the vestry for the ringers and provide a gallery at the rear of the church. All 6 new bells were donated as memorials of loved ones, and in celebration of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. In addition, the gallery and its staircase have been donated as memorials. All 6 bells were rung from the upper floor for the first time on Sunday, 4th July 2004.

St Mawnan History

St MawnanHistorical Photos

Lord, I am no longer my own, but Yours. Put me to what You will, rank me with whom You will. Let be employed by You or laid aside for You, exalted for You or brought low by You. Let me have all things, let me have nothing, I freely and heartily yield all things to Your pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You are mine and I am Yours. So be it. Amen.
