Who we are
We are a vibrant community in the heart of the city that strives to live and serve according to the purpose God has ordained for us.
We do this by rooting ourselves in the Bible, the written witness to God’s presence among his people. We believe that this written witness directs us to Jesus Christ, who is the living revelation of our heavenly Father. It is this same Jesus who enables us to connect to God through his saving grace, and through his gift of the Holy Spirit.
We believe that God is present and active in his creation; God not only hears but also responds to prayer. Through prayer we strengthen our relationship with Him, learn to recognize his voice, align our spirits with His, and call His healing and transformative power into particular situations.
Then, with a firm footing in God’s Word and discerning spirits responding to God’s guidance, we serve our community according to the needs we encounter and the strengths of the congregation.
Through sound biblical preaching and study of the Bible we feed our minds, through prayer we feed our spirits, and through service in His name we condition our bodies. This threefold cord binds us to God and to one another.
All are welcome in this house of worship. There are no perfect people here; we who worship together are bound by our common need of grace and forgiveness which can only be found in Christ.
Peace and joy,
Rev. Mikal Schomburg
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.
Speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.
(Ephesians 4:4-6, 15-16)

IMPORTANT NOTICE PLEASE READ!! All church activities suspended for 3 weeks.
Our Elders met this morning (March 15 following service) to discuss the escalating Coronavirus situation. After much consideration we have decided that all church activities at St. Paul's will be suspended for the next three weeks. We will be regularly monitoring advice from health officials and our national church and will make a decision whether to extend this fallow period as the situation unfolds.
Though our corporate worship is on hold, we are still a community dedicated to worshiping and serving God- remember those at home, check in with each other regularly, lift one another in prayer, and hold fast to your identity as witnesses in Norfolk to the transforming love of Christ.
