Who we are
Chalford Baptist Church is a small but lively congregation. At the heart of our church lies a desire to know Jesus and make Him known.
Our Sunday morning service includes both contemporary and traditional songs and people are encouraged to join in with flags and percussion instruments. Prayer is both corporate and individual and is spirit led.
We serve our local community through Open the Book at the local Primary School, Holiday Bible Clubs in partnership with the other local churches, Children’s work in partnership with Psalms, Weekly Drop In, Food Bank collections and hospital and prison visiting.
We are the lead church in the area for humanitarian aid for the thousands of refugees in Syria and Iraq and organise regular clothing collections to send out. Monthly Soup for Syria lunches raise money to buy first aid kits and pay for the fuel to send the aid. Recently we have started knitting squares to be made into blankets and this has now spread throughout the Stroud area.
We also have a thriving group of dancers called the Kingdom Family Dancers who specialise in Israeli Dancing. Since we are without a minister, the ‘family’ has an opportunity to bring and share what is on their heart to a monthly open service in which we celebrate communion and enjoy a shared meal afterwards. We are always looking for new ways to engage with our local community and our doors are open to all.
